Story about the Song:

Braided Light’s debut EP, Out of the Darkness (2021), is a collection of stepping-stones through the difficult journey.
Leaning on acoustic sources and sole engineering, Jess uses an honest, organic approach to convey her messages. The EP
opens to finding where listeners are right now in their lives – most likely Tryin’. It travels through the process, and
closes with determined perseverance – ready to run Out of the Darkness. Now is the time for discernment, and
self-reflection; for accompaniment whilst traveling through the darkness, in search of the Light.

Song Lyrics:

Whisper on the breeze, A tremble through the trees I can’t believe I’m standin’ here --- A world washed in grace Ten thousand times a day I can’t see how I missed it --- Weavin’ in and out Like a Light that won’t go out Where everything is working for one purpose And to make it feel worth it He gave us Hope --- Shimmers in the sky Laughter rushin’ over Sharp rocks I had traveled Memories and tears Embrace them all I feel by lookin’ back, I see --- Weavin’ in and out Like a Light that won’t go out Where everything is working for one purpose And to make it feel worth it He gave us Hope --- Ohhh, He gave us Hope, Ohhh… --- Sevenfold of grace, Sunshine on my face This place is so much more than walls and windows Journeying alone Everything is gone Yet I’m still here for a reason --- I see weavin’ in and out Like a Light that won’t go out Where everything is working for one purpose And to make it feel worth it --- He gave us --- Hope in the future, Hope in the misery Hope every time we look at the cross, and keep believin’ He gives us no more than we can stand, No pain without a Hand, Seems He has hope in us Like He believes in us…
And I believe in…Hope Ohhh, He gave us Hope, Ohhh… --- (Instrumental) --- Yeah, I’m still here with Hope in the future, Hope in the misery Hope every time we look at the cross, and keep believin’ He gives us no more than we can stand, No pain without a Hand, Seems He has hope in us Like He believes in us…
And I believe in…Hope --- Ohhh, He gave us Hope, Ohhh… He gave us Hope, By dying and rising He gave us Hope, the future is coming, so… Hope.

About Braided Light

“So I let go…and Trust." (Trust, Braided Light) Braided Light , (indie artist Jessica Standage) , is a Catholic inspirational singer/songwriter from SoCal.

Since starting piano at age 3, her art has blossomed into a colorful Light, showering down upon her every surrounding. Her passion for music is evident in many ways: from a quiet pencil-in-hand, to a random burst into song. She believes music to be a vessel through which the Holy Spirit works, and healing thrives through inspiration.

Jess enjoys accompanying herself on multiple instruments, including piano, banjo and guitar, and finds immense joy being self-produced in all her work.  After years of classical training, earning her B.P.S. through Berklee College of Music (class of 2021), and drawing particular inspiration from Sarah Kroger and Andrew Peterson, her songwriting and production work digs below the surface, creeps into the cracks, and draws forth living light for listeners to hold onto.

There is much beauty in this world, waiting to be discovered. God’s innumerable graces are just waiting for us to ask for them – and by taking hold of them, we can weave them into something beautiful.

We can Braid Light.
